Insurance Licensing
Insurance products available through Ombrela are sold by JBD&Group Services LLC (DBA, JBD Insurances), a licensed insurance producer. State-by-state licensing details available on request. Ombrela operates the consumer-facing platform. Underlying insurance policies are underwritten by A-rated carriers including (but not limited to): IMG, Trawick International, Tokio Marine, Seven Corners, GeoBlue, and Allianz Global Assistance.
Producer Compensation
Ombrela and its licensed producer partners receive commission from insurance carriers when policies are purchased through our platform — typically 10–30% of premium, paid by the carrier. These commissions are not added to the price you pay. We do not charge consumer fees beyond the insurance premium. Ombrela receives compensation in the same manner regardless of which carrier you choose — we are not financially incentivized to direct you to specific plans.
Important Insurance Disclosures
No form of travel is ever completely safe. Travel insurance does not eliminate risks; it provides financial protection if specified covered events occur. Insurance policies have specific terms, conditions, exclusions, and limitations. Read your policy documents before purchase. Common exclusions include: pre-existing medical conditions (without specific upgrades), routine care, pregnancy on some plans, intoxication-related events, and high-risk activities. Insurance benefits are subject to claim review by the carrier. Not all claims are paid — review your policy's covered reasons and exclusions before relying on coverage. Visitor health insurance is not major medical insurance, is not ACA-compliant, and does not satisfy individual mandate requirements where applicable.

Ombrela's quote and purchase platform is powered by Xfirm.io, an insurance technology company that connects consumers with licensed carriers and producers. Xfirm.io operates the quote API, policy administration, and customer service infrastructure. Insurance products are issued by licensed carriers and sold through licensed producers.
Complaints
