A good place to start

Your trip. Your kind of cover.

A few simple choices will point you in the right direction.

01 — What brings you here?
02 — What do you want to protect?

This helps you navigate coverage options. It is not a quote or a coverage determination.

Know the difference

A medical bill and a canceled trip
need different kinds of cover.

Travel medical

Focuses on eligible emergency medical expenses while you’re away. Some policies include emergency evacuation and other limited travel benefits.

  • Check medical limits and deductibles
  • Review pre-existing condition terms
  • Confirm residence and destination eligibility
Ask about medical eligibility

Whole-trip protection

Can combine cancellation and interruption benefits with medical, baggage and travel delay coverage. Reimbursement requires a covered reason.

  • Insure eligible prepaid, nonrefundable costs
  • Check purchase deadlines and exclusions
  • Review optional cancel-for-any-reason terms

Whole-trip quoting is not yet available through Ombrela.

The Caribbean deserves
a closer look.

01

Weather & timing

Known storms can affect coverage eligibility. Read the policy’s timing rules before relying on hurricane benefits.

02

Care beyond the island

Emergency evacuation may require insurer approval and transport to the nearest appropriate facility, rather than your preferred hospital.

03

The things you’ll do

Diving, sailing and other activities may have depth limits, exclusions or optional upgrades. Check your exact itinerary.

Clarity comes first

Before you choose a policy.

Can I get a guaranteed discount?

No universal discount is promised. Compare final premiums for the same travelers, dates, trip costs and benefits. A lower price can also mean lower limits or more exclusions.

Is every Caribbean destination covered?

No. Eligibility depends on residence, destination, insurer and policy. Some providers exclude Cuba or Haiti. Check every stop, including cruises and multi-country trips.

Does my US health insurance cover me abroad?

Benefits vary. Ask your health insurer about international emergency care and evacuation. Original Medicare generally does not cover care outside the US, with limited exceptions.

When should I buy?

Review options after booking. Some benefits have time-sensitive purchase requirements, and an event that is already known may be excluded. Read the applicable policy before purchasing.
